ARE YOU DELUSIONAL?

What Tax Season Taught Me About Fear

I spent many years in the tax industry, and every tax season taught me something about people.

Every tax professional knows the picture. A few clients come in early, organized and calm. Many more come in at the last minute, stressed and unsure. It is rarely about laziness. It is fear. When you are afraid of what the numbers will say, you avoid looking at them.

I see the same thing in entrepreneurs. They avoid their numbers, avoid the hard conversation, avoid the price increase they know they need. Avoidance feels safe, but it only makes the problem bigger.

Here is what those seasons taught me: the fear is almost always worse than the facts. Once you sit down and look, you can make a plan. And once you have a plan, the fear loses its power.

For many of us in the Hispanic community, money was not something we talked about openly at the dinner table. That silence can follow us into business. Breaking it is one of the bravest things you can do for your family and your future.

Look at your numbers this week. Know what you earn, what you spend, and what you need. Clarity is a form of courage.
